Midweek Message

Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, March 27, 2024

Dear Calvary family,

Some of us are traveling and enjoying a change of scenery as we are on Spring Break trips. Others of us are resting from work with a 'stay-cation' at home. Another portion of us are living our normal lives, but might have additional opportunities for busyness or creativity, tasks or responsibilities.

No matter what we have going on or where we are going; this is a week to take multiple long pauses as we approach the Last Supper, the cross, Holy Saturday, and the garden tomb. Please take purposeful pauses in your life... to rest, reflect, journal, pray, listen to worshipful music, or take a long loving look at God's creation. Re-read the final days and hours of Jesus' life, his death and the waiting that is to come.

Consider how He did all that for you. For your family. For your friends. For your neighbors. For your enemies. For our world. Sit with the significance of what He has done for all of us and then offer your prayers back to Him.

See you in worship on Thursday, Friday, early Easter morning at the shelter house, and Easter worship at 10am!

On Mission POSSIBLE with you,

Pastor Michelle

GREAT SUMMER MISSION OPPORTUNITY

Our next mission trip to Mountain T.O. P. in Tennessee for youth in 7th grade and up as well as any adults is June 16-22. The service projects to choose from include painting, building, yardwork, or day camp (like VBS) with younger area kids. If you missed the informational meeting, but are interested in this, please contact the office.

“LEGO & LET GOD…Building your Faith Brick by Brick”

Speaking of summer opportunities, registration is available now for our three-day LEGO Camp taking place July 15-17 for grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. Each day we will have a prayer, a devotional, music, daily LEGO thematic challenges, outdoor games, and snacks. Forms are available on the table in the Narthex.

WE NEED LEGO BRICKS AND VOLUNTEERS!

We are excited to try something new this summer for our children and youth in the form of this LEGO camp: “LEGO & Let God…Building your Faith Brick by Brick”! Mark your calendar to volunteer those three days! But we also need your help right now! Gather up old LEGO elements you or your family might have at home. (We will not be able to return them to you.) Bargain shoppers be alert online, at garage sales, and at Goodwill. Collection bins are in the narthex. We are also accepting financial donations to purchase LEGO sets as well. Please note “LEGO Camp” on your check. If you have any questions, please contact Anne at anneinman1@hotmail.com.

UMCOR SUNDAY AND OUR MARCH MISSION FOCUS

The United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) comes alongside those who suffer from natural or human-caused disasters, like famine, hurricane, war, flood, fire or other events, to alleviate suffering and serve as a source of help and hope for the vulnerable. UMCOR provides relief, response, and long-term recovery grants when events overwhelm a community's ability to recover on their own. On UMCOR Sunday, Methodist churches are asked to receive a special offering. These donations cover UMCOR's operation costs so that 100% of donations received in response to emergency appeals go directly to communities in need. UMCOR is Calvary’s March Mission and all mission gifts received this month, unless otherwise noted, will be given to UMCOR.
